Opera "Kisah Cinta di Balik Rembulan"  Enlivens Bakdan Neng Solo 2025

Surakarta, April 3, 2025 – The annual event Bakdan Neng Solo returned with great excitement and successfully entertained the public with a special performance a grand opera titled "Kisah Cinta di Balik Rembulan: Sukrosono and Sumantri."

The performance took place at the Surakarta City Hall courtyard at 7:30 PM local time and captivated hundreds of attendees. The opera tells a meaningful legend about Sukrosono, a mystical being who waits faithfully in the skies for his brother Sumantri, who has gone off to fight. Through an emotional storyline, the show highlights noble values such as sacrifice, true love, and unwavering loyalty.

Beyond its compelling narrative, the performance was enhanced by stunning appearances from artists, traditional dancers, dalang (puppeteers), pangrawit (gamelan musicians), as well as the artistic and production teams from various cultural communities in Solo. The seamless collaboration of gamelan music, lighting design, traditional costumes, and dance movements created a magical atmosphere that drew the audience deeply into the story.
