Solo City welcomes travelers with “Sinta Obong” the Colossal Opera Entertainment

Monday (May 27, 2019) Bakdan Neng Solo Event Committee has held a Press Conference at the Central Java Cultural Park, with media crews to inform that Surakarta City Government will hold a colossal opera entitled “Sinta Obong” to enliven the Eid Al-Fitr 2019 on the 7th 8, and 9 June 2019.

The conference was attended by Mayor of Surakarta, Fx. Hadi Rudiatmo “This is one of our ways to preserve the arts and culture of Indonesia,” said Mayor FX Hadi Rudyatmo in Solo. He also conveyed information that the event “Bakdan Neng Sala Nonton Opera Ramayana and 2019 Bazaar” will be held for three days at Benteng Vastenburg starting at 5PM.

The Ramayana Opera at this event itself tells the story of “Sinta Obong” which is the adoption of the Ramayana story. Unlike the dance performances and other puppet shows, this play presents dance dialogue and tembang with 150 artists (from children to adults) the composer Dedek Wahyudi said that to distinguishes the show this year from last year are Music and script are different. Meanwhile, screenwriter Blacius Subono said that the story for every play will be worked on maximally, including Kumbokarno, Rama, Rahwana, and Sinta.

Rudy, the mayor’s nickname, said that, “Why is it free, because our goal is to provide entertainment to the travelers who have never watched the traditional performance for a long time. Thus the hope is that the younger generation will continue to love their culture,” He hopes that in the future there will be a legal protection, thus whoever the elected mayor, the event will continue to be held.
