Lokananta is the oldest music studio in Indonesia and one of the interesting historical places for music lover to visit. Located  at jl. Ahmad Yani 379A, Kerten , Laweyan Surakarta , lokananta was founded on October 29 1956 by the head of the ministry of Radio of the Republic of Indonesia, R. Maladi. 

It has about 53.000 black plates and 5670 historical master recording including the original  voice of the Indonesian’s founder Ir. Soekarno when he was reading the text of the proclamation   .It recorded broadcast material on vinyl records that 26 RRI radio stations throughout Indoneaia broadcast.Lokananta means gamelan in the heaven that since 1958 has been producing fork song under ‘Lokananta “ brand name. It became a recording studio for Asian Games IV in 1960 , and some Indonesisan legendary singers such as Gesang,  Waljinah , Titik puspa have had experience of recording at Lokananta. .

As the oldest music studio , Lokananta also as the house of various collections of music production  machines from 1960s up to 1990s such as record players , cassette tape  cutting machines , etc.

Unfortunately , Lokananta has been revitalized since November 27 2022 for almost 6 months , and officially reopened on June 3, 2023 .  Recently , Lokananta is not only as the tourist destination in Solo but as the center of creativity as well.
