Dalem Doyoatmojo is a building that originally served as the residence of Kapiten Tituler Tionghoa Surakarta (the Chinese Captain of Surakarta) named Kwee Tjien Gwan. The role of the Kapiten included not only executive duties but also handling legal (customary) matters for the Chinese community. His position made it easier for the Dutch colonial government to manage the Chinese population in matters of trade and ethnic organization.

After Indonesia’s independence, the building was repurposed as a military office during the Dutch Military Aggression II. Later, the ownership of the building shifted to Kanjeng Pangeran Haryo (KPH) Salahuddin Setiawan Djodi Nur Hadiningrat, commonly known as Setiawan Djodi, a renowned musician famous for his rock group Kantata Taqwa. The house is now owned by KPH. H. Nur Harjanto Doyoatmojo.
