The Manager’s House of the Saripetojo Ice Factory was established simultaneously with the Saripetojo Ice Factory (Soloche Ist Wastahoppy) in 1888. This house was occupied by the factory manager’s family and its architecture was adapted using the Indische (Dutch Indies) architectural style. Ownership of this house was later transferred to the Japanese government during their occupation of Indonesia for approximately three years (1941–1944).

After Indonesia’s independence, the house and the ice factory were acquired by the Indonesian government and managed by BAPPIT (Badan Pimpinan Perusahaan Industri dan Tambang). The condition of the manager’s house remains intact, although the ice factory itself has been converted into a shopping center and hotel. However, the function of the house has changed into a restaurant.
