The Manager’s House of the Saripetojo Ice Factory was established in 1888, simultaneously with the construction of the Saripetojo Ice Factory (Soloche Ist Wastahoppy). The house was originally occupied by the factory manager and their family, and was built in the Indische (Dutch East Indies) architectural style. During the Japanese occupation of Indonesia (1941–1944), ownership of the property was transferred to the Japanese government.
After Indonesia’s independence, both the house and the ice factory were acquired by the Indonesian government and managed by BAPPIT (Badan Pimpinan Perusahaan Industri dan Tambang).
Today, the manager’s house remains structurally intact, preserving its historical charm. While the former ice factory has been transformed into a shopping center and hotel, the house itself has taken on a new function as a restaurant.
