Bruderan Purbayan is a school and dormitory for prospective brothers, established on June 23, 1926, with the aim of advancing the mission of education, especially in the field of Catholic religious education. The establishment of Bruderan was closely related to the FIC (Fratrum Immaculatae Conceptionis) community in Yogyakarta and Pastor Hoevenaars. He appointed his representative, Brother Mathias, to visit Solo.

In May 1925, a house located in Purbayan, Solo, was approved to be used as the Bruderan. The construction was then entrusted to Brother Pemenang. The first Overste (leader) was Brother Siardus. Additionally, Javanese brothers named Brother Aloysius Soegiardjo and Brother Yacobus Hendrowarsito were appointed to facilitate communication.

The building has two floors with a monitor at the roof of the main building. The Bovenlicht (upper window) features stained glass decorations that enhance the beauty of the building.
