
Bedhaya Pangkur is a sacred dance that was born from traditional classical dance around the Keraton Kasunanan Surakarta Hadiningrat. This dance is 200 years old and is the work of King PB IV. The movement of Bedhaya Pangkur Dance has a soft and flowing movement with the accompaniment of Gendhing Pangkur. There are nine dancers with different positions and names, namely batak, gulu, dhaha, endhel weton, endhel ajeg, apit ngarep, apit meneng, apit mburi and buncit. The nine positions of Bedhaya Pangkur dancers are the manifestation of controlling human lust (babahan hawa sanga). Regarding the instruments, the accompaniment is simple, unlike other dance instruments. It only consists of kemanak, kethuk, kenong, kendhang and gong plus sindhenan vocals.
