KEPATIHAN MANGKUNEGARAN - Ditambahkan oleh Rustam

KEPATIHAN MANGKUNEGARAN

Location : Ronggowarsito Street, Timuran, Banjarsari, Surakarta
Designation Decree : SK Walikota Surakarta No. 432.2/310 Tahun 2019

The Kepatihan building was constructed in 1848, when the office of the Patih (chief minister) was first established during the reign of Mangkunegara III. At that time, the Patih was Tumenggung Mangkurejo. Over time, Dalem Kepatihan or Kepatihan seridence took on an important new role as the facility for Solosche Radio Vereeniging (SRV) studio, which began operating in January 1934. SRV was formally founded on April 1, 1933. This radio studio later became the early foundation of RRI Surakarta.

During SRV’s early activities, the Patih, KRMT. Sarwoko Mangkukusumo played a crucial role. He provided the eastern gadri of the Kepatihan pavilion, a place to store the harvest, as the studio space and personally paid the monthly electricity cost of 60 guilders. Under Mangkunegara VII, KRMT. Sarwoko Mangkukusumo’s influence was so significant that Dalem Kepatihan became widely referred to as Dalem Sarwakan. Over the years, part of the Kepatihan building was also used as the Taman Putera kindergarten.

After Indonesia’s independence, ownership of Dalem Kepatihan was transferred to the Government of the Republic of Indonesia. This transfer was based on Government Decree No. 16/SD/1946 (July 15, 1946) and a letter from the Minister of Home Affairs dated 29 October 1956, No. Des/48/1/1. These documents clarified that properties formerly under the Rijk Mangkunegaran fell into two ownership :
1.    The property of Rijk Mangkunegaran, and
2.    The property of Mangkunegaran Prive.
Because the Kepatihan building belonged to the Rijk Mangkunegaran, the building and the land at Ronggowarsito Street No. 86 (its address at that time), formerly the Mangkunegaran Kepatihan, were officially owned by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia. As a result, the Mayor of Surakarta had the authority to implement governmental actions (regeringsdaden) and exercise full administrative policy over the Kepatihan building, since it was located within the jurisdiction of Kotapraja Surakarta.

Although ownership had been transferred to the national government, the Surakarta Municipal Government did not take over administration of Dalem Kepatihan until after the death of the last Patih of Mangkunegaran, KRMT. Partono Handojonoto, on May 12, 1963.
The Mangkunegaran Kepatihan building holds significant historical value. It stands as a symbol of the autonomy of the Praja Mangkunegaran Government and marks the birthplace of Indonesia’s oldest radio station.
