Srimpi Gandakusuma Dance is the creation of Hingkang Sinuhun Kangjeng Susuhunan Pakoe Boewono VIII, who reigned in the Kasunanan Surakarta Hadiningrat in Jimikar 1786 or 1858 before century.

The word srimpi comes from the Javanese language impi which means “dream”. This purpose is given because the Srimpi dance performance can bring anyone who watches as if they are in a serene and beautiful dreamland. This dance is a classical dance performed by four female dancers.
