Puri Baron was built in 1908. The name Baron was taken from Mayor Baron Van
Hougendoorf, one of the Dutch officials who helped determine the establishment of the Keraton
Kasunanan Surakarta. This building is in the Indies Architecture style which has adapted to the climate in Indonesia. The building was once a silent witness to the Cease Fire negotiations, namely the ceasefire negotiations between the Netherlands held by Colonel Van Ohl and Lieutenant Colonel (Letkol) Slamet Riyadi during the four-day battle in Solo after the Dutch military aggression II. Puri Baron is also known as the Pertani Office, because in 1978 it was converted into the office of PT. Pertani which serves the office administration sector.
