Dr. Radjiman Street served as the main road connecting Laweyan Village to the Kasunanan Surakarta Palace before Slamet Riyadi Street was constructed. This road access significantly boosted the village’s economic growth, especially in the batik cloth trade. As the area became increasingly bustling, several public facilities were established for people passing through Laweyan Village. One of these facilities is the Langgar Laweyan, a place of worship located on the edge of Dr. Radjiman Street. The langgar was built in 1919, covering an area of approximately 300 m² and able to accommodate 60–70 worshippers. Its size was intentionally modest, unlike a mosque, as it was originally intended for travelers and passersby to perform their prayers.
