Originally established in 1938, the building was a residential house with a colonial architectural style. In the same year, it was repurposed as the Office of the High Religious Court for the Central Java and Yogyakarta regions. Later, the High Religious Court offices were relocated to Semarang and Yogyakarta. Surrounding the building, a State Islamic Senior High School (Madrasah Aliyah Negeri) was established under the Department of Religious Affairs. Since 1990, the building has been functioning as a mosque utilized by Madrasah Aliyah Negeri II.
