This building was constructed by KRA Sosrodiningrat IV to serve as the residence of KPH Wuryaningrat, who was the son-in-law of Paku Buwono X, married to GRA Kustantinah. He also once served as the Regent of Keparak Tengen. KPH Wuryaningrat played a role as a pioneer fighter for Indonesia’s independence.
His residence was used as a headquarters during the independence struggle. The pavilion located beside the main house was also used by Wuryaningrat along with Sutomo and Dr. Wahidin Sudiro Husodo in the formation of the Greater Indonesia Party (Partai Indonesia Raya, Parindra).
Today, the building has been repurposed into a meeting hall, factory, museum, and includes a gallery that sells batik products from Danar Hadi.
