Originally, this building was constructed as a polyclinic for the royal servants (abdi dalem) of the Surakarta Palace, known as Panti Raga. Kadipolo Hospital was a public hospital owned by the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace, established by His Majesty Paku Buwana X to serve the wider community, alongside the founding of the Mangunjayan Mental Hospital in 1916.
Kadipolo Hospital was officially established in 1915, during a time when the Surakarta region was hit by a plague outbreak. The hospital was initially built specifically to treat this epidemic and to provide medical services to the palace staff.
By 1960, due to financial difficulties, the Palace handed over full control of Kadipolo Hospital—including its buildings, staff, and medical personnel—to the Surakarta regional government. On July 1, 1960, efforts began to merge Kadipolo Hospital, Jebres Hospital, and Mangkubumen Hospital under a single director, Dr. Sutejo. Each hospital then took on a specific specialization: Jebres for pediatrics, Kadipolo for internal medicine and gynecology, and Mangkubumen for trauma and accident victims.
On August 1, 1976, all patients from Kadipolo Hospital were transferred to Mangkubumen Hospital in preparation for the establishment of a Nursing Education School (SPK). The patient transfer was completed by April 1977, and on April 24, 1977, the SPK officially opened, occupying the former Kadipolo Hospital building. In 1985, the building became the property of the Arseto Solo football club, serving as a residence and mess hall for the players. However, today, most of the building stands abandoned and poorly maintained.
